Issue: Whether or not the true philosopher must always be ready to die for the truth

Try yourself to speak the truth where people may kill you for doing so, and you will understand how brave and self-sacrificial the philosophers were. Almost all of the philosophers want everyone to believe and know the truth. Some of the philosophers believe that they must be ready to die for the truth, while some state that they need not sacrifice their lives for it. The true philosopher must always be ready to die for the truth for three reasons: it helps others incredibly, it benefits him presently, and it saves him eternally.

The first reason why a true philosopher must always be ready to die for the truth is because it helps others incredibly. His self-sacrificial bravery shines like a sun, serving as an example to all men. It encourages them also to bravely speak up against a lie and follow his example. In this way, he lives on, for though his body may die and return to the Earth, his teachings shall live and spread to the world.
