Complaints and Policy Related to Parental Involvement with Paisano Tutoring
Parents Sitting in the Classroom During Their Child’s Class:
Parents are allowed to sit in class as long as they do not disrupt the class, and as long as they have made arrangements ahead of time. Parents may not bring additional children to class with them. If a child performs better when the parent is not present in the class, the Paisano Tutoring instructor will inform the parent of this.
Parents who sit in the class are expected not to interact with the class unless called upon to do so. If the Paisano Tutoring administration deems it appropriate for a parent to assist with a particular activity during class, all students are expected to treat that parent with respect, listen to them, and obey them.
Paisano Tutoring reserves the right to forbid specific parents from sitting in the class if their presence is disruptive to the class. Parents of students do not have the right to dictate which parents are allowed to sit in class and which parents are forbidden from sitting in class. That determination is based solely on the discretion and judgment of the Paisano Tutoring administrator.
There is an assumption that when families sign on with Paisano Tutoring, they trust the judgment of the administrator and teachers of Paisano Tutoring. If that trust is not there, then Paisano Tutoring is not a fit for such families.
For Questions or Concerns:
Any parent who has questions or concerns about their child’s participation in classes at Paisano Tutoring should make an appointment to meet with the Paisano Tutoring administrator in person.
If there is a simple question about a child’s homework, academic progress, or general behavior in class, the parent is welcome to email or text the Paisano Tutoring administrator. Do not email other Paisano Tutoring staff members.
If a parent receives a report from their child that an incident has taken place in the classroom, and the parent thinks that another student, parent, or staff member needs to be corrected, the parent may choose one of the following courses of action:
1) Email the Paisano Tutoring administrator.
2) Make an appointment to meet with the Paisano Tutoring administrator to discuss it in person.
3) Fill out the Parent Complaint Form.
If a parent is unsure if they should fill out the Parent Complaint Form, contact the Paisano Tutoring administrator and ask.
Complaints:
For an incident that is said to have occured in the classroom: If a parent has a complaint against a Paisano Tutoring staff member, student, or a parent who sits in the class, for a specific incident that is said to have occurred in the classroom, the parent must contact the Paisano Tutoring administrator and/or fill out the Parent Complaint Form within five days of the incident. Complaints that are filed more than five days after the incident will not be acknowledged as valid.
As of Wednesday, March 3, all Paisano Tutoring classes are being audio recorded, and these recordings are kept for one week only and are then deleted. These recordings are never posted or distributed to anyone, but are solely for the purpose of reviewing a specific class session if a complaint is issued about an incident that is said to have happened during that class session.
Responses to Parent Complaint Forms:
The administrator of Paisano Tutoring will issue a response to a Parent Complaint Form within one week of receiving the complaint. Parents are welcome to schedule an in-person meeting with the Paisano Tutoring administrator to discuss the response to the Parent Complaint Form.
Failure to Follow Proper Channels for Making a Complaint:
For an incident that is said to have taken place in the classroom: Parents should not initiate group texts, emails, or phone calls regarding their grievances against another student, parent, or teacher. Rather, parents should contact the Paisano Tutoring administrator directly and/or fill out the Parent Complaint Form.
Any parent who does not follow the proper channels for issuing complaints about incidents that are said to have occurred in the classroom will not be allowed to sit in class sessions or participate in group events or field trips.
Any parent who harasses other parents or students by phone, text, or email will not be allowed to sit in class sessions or participate in group events or field trips.
Parents mandating specific rules for the classroom:
No parent has the right to impose any rules for the Paisano Tutoring classroom.
Parents must trust the judgment of the administrator and teachers of Paisano Tutoring to conduct the classroom appropriately and in a way that is spiritually, emotionally, and socially healthy for all of the students. If that trust is not there, then Paisano Tutoring is not a fit for such families.
A parent cannot make a rule that certain children are not allowed to speak to other children in the classroom. This creates an unhealthy environment in the classroom that negatively impacts the spiritual, emotional, and social development of the children. If a family has grievances with another family to the degree that they do not want interaction between their children and this other family, then they need to pull their children out of class until their grievances are resolved.
